[Interview] Exclusive interview with Sendelica

Dear readers, in this article we have the pleasure to present you with an interview with a UK band with a Psychedelic and Space Rock sound. We welcome Sendelica.

Hi, how are you?

Hi, this is Pete from Sendelica…. I am very good thank you….

What is the meaning of the name of your band Sendelica?

Sensual Psychedelia …… Sen delica

The genre you play incorporates elements of Space and Psychedelic Rock, where does your passion for these sounds come from?

It comes from my youth in the 70’s First band I saw live was Pink Floyd, quickly followed by Gong and Hawkwind…. My life was never going to be the same after that trinity of bands! Although we wear our influences on our sleeves, this is no slavish ‘reproduction’ of this era, we drag it all kicking and screaming into the 21 st century

The new release “Man, Myth & Magic” was released in December 2023, and is part of a series of 4 albums how would you describe this work?

It is indeed the hird instalment of our quadrology of albums that is delving into Mankinds Myths, Magic, Religion, his relationship with the planet and ultimately how it all may end! The series started with ‘And Man Created God’ which looked at man’s relationship with religion, followed by ‘One Man’s Man’ which examined the history of Homosapian, where did we come from and more importantly where are we headed?.
‘Man, Myth & Magic’ explores Mans Myths & Magic, when does magic become science, when exactly does magic become a reality, and are myths based on factual events and somehow distorted over the centuries?
The final instalment will be titled ‘Requiem’

Long instrumental plots with forays into Experimentation as well, how does the creative process of your tracks take place?

I guess it starts with me demoing tracks and sending them over to Colin, we thrash out a structure for the tracks, and then have the others get involved in the recording process… the mixes get longer and longer as the process evolves.

Many of our readers and your fans wonder if there will be a chance to hear you live, do you have plans in this regard in the near future?

We’ve been playing live all over the world for the last fifteen years… USA, Russia, Holland, Italy, Germany, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and off course good old UK….. We will be playing a few festivals this year and supporting Acid Mothers Temple in Wales, and a gig with Man in August at the 20 th Dream of Dr Sardonicus Festival

Music is constantly evolving, how do you see the modern Psychedelic and Space Rock scene?

I find a lot of the current scene to be too slavish to the 70’s, a lot of Gong and Hawkwind clones, we all need to keep progressing this kind of music, push the boundaries… It’s called prog music for a reason…. be progressive!!

You have released many albums, how has your sound evolved over the years?

Our sound is constantly evolving. All our musical journeys are unique in many ways…. the full smorgasborg of aural delights. One of the greatest things a fan has ever said to me was “You never know what to expect from a new Sendelica album”. Keep the fans on their toes …..

What advice would you give to young artists approaching music in a more sophisticated genre such as yours?

Be real, be authentic and be passionate.

Do you have any other passions or artistic activities outside music?

I love multi media projects… albums with books, paintings, tarot cards, the crazier the
better.

I thank Sendelica for the interview and wish them all the best for the continuation of their artistic career.

Thank you very much and the interest you have shown in the band. Much appreciated
