Dear readers, we are pleased to offer you in this article an interview with the artist behind the Vrajitor’s Tenebrarium project. The debut album, to be released on September 2023, features Prog Rock sounds influenced by the occult and esotericism.
Hi, how are you?
“Great!“
Your project Vrajitor’s Tenebrarium features Occult Prog sounds, where does your passion
for these sounds come from?
“I’ve always liked progressive rock, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Camel, Rush etc. but this album is more inspired by the film music side of prog rock. 70’s European sounds and the early or proto dark ambient.“
The debut album “E.N.L.D.” is steeped in esoteric Prog sounds, what themes does the
record deal with?
“Folklore, occultism and personal Magick Work.“
The music on the album is intense and with references to the golden age of Prog, how would you describe this work?
“An album of darker progressive rock with hints of horror/exploitation film music.“
Several artists participate in the album, what did they contribute to the sound?
“Not counting the drummer who is the crucial backbone of the album, other collaborators spiced things up nicely with bass clarinet, saxophone, 12-string guitar and vocal pieces.“
The album is very intense from start to finish and it would be interesting to hear it live, do you have plans for this in the near future?
I haven’t decided this yet, the future shall see.“
Your music has hints of the early 70s, what are your sources of inspiration?
“European horror/exploitation film music, the proto dark ambient bands, Krautrock, psychedelic music, Devil Doll, Jacula…“
Music and prog are constantly evolving, how do you see today’s scene and the future of
the genre?
“I haven’t paid much attention to the current scene, sadly. No hopes for the future, I will keep wandering in my own world and new music appears from time to time.“
What advice would you give to young artists approaching music with more elaborate sounds like yours?
Do what’s on your heart and mind. Do it to yourself, every other opinion is irrelevant.“
Do you have any other passions or artistic activities outside of music?
“Films and literature.“
The sound is mature and full of ideas, how has it evolved throughout your artistic career?
“By now I have decent experience in writing music, and every album is a progression in some way.“
I thank Vrajitor for the interview and the opportunity to review this excellent album, wishing him all the best for the continuation of his artistic career.
