After 4 years from the release of “King For A Day“, 30 August 2019 was the release date for “ Fragments Of The 5th Element”, the fifth studio album from Magic Pie. The 5 tracks that compose it, reflect the various influences of the band, always expressed since the first album released in 2005. The explosive beginning with the song “The Man Who Had It All”, noteworthy is also the rhythm of “P&C” and “A Table For Two” with keyboards in evidence. We then move on to the more melodic “Touched By An Angel” with excellent guitar interventions. These first 4 tracks well-arranged lead us to the highlight of the album, the epic “The Hedonist” lasting over 23 minutes, where we come back to Heavy Prog. Despite the long duration no one second is wasted with perfectly harmonizations and hard harmonizations, with keyboards and guitar that do a precise and compelling job as well as the strong voice always on the piece. A great job that fully expresses the qualities of the Swedish band, undoubtedly we are in front of one of the best albums of 2019 as well as one of the best New Prog bands of the last years. Pure quality magic pies never disappoint, recreating once again those classic atmospheres of the 70s. This record can be appreciated both by lovers of old-style Prog and by those who are interested in more modern sounds.
