[News] Async Await to release the new EP “Irretrospective Part 2” on November 2023

Async Await‘s EP collection continues with “Irretrospective: Part 2.” Releasing on the 17th November 2023 via Chameleons Risen, the second part of this collection sees the project’s distinctive use of electronics with fuzz and distortion develop. It’s a multi-textural sound that crosses a dynamic array of styles and influences.

Project mastermind Mike Sorensen comments:

Irretrospective: Part 2 centers around the experience of friendship failing as situations change and we make the decisions that will define the rest of our lives. These songs move through stages of arrogance, criticism, judgment, reflection, and regret. Through this writing process I discovered that the criticism I had for other people was often a projection of my own insecurities and fears.

About Async Await:
Based out of New Jersey, Async Await is a one-person electronic alt-rock project from multi-instrumentalist Mike Sorensen. The inaugural release of the “Waves” EP in 2020 laid the groundwork for the sound, incorporating guitars, bass, and vocals with electronic drums, software synthesizers, and DIY production. The sound continues to evolve with the “Irretrospective” series of EPs: 12 songs written between 2008 and 2021, some written, re-written, and re-worked laboriously, and others thoughtlessly thrown together in one inebriated evening. These songs, and Async Await as a whole, are part of a perpetual journey of self-discovery and understanding.
