Midgar became the third band to join Year Of The Rat Records last year, joining Lastelle and The Young Hearts on the labels roster. Previous singles “We Don’t Make The Rules” “Sunburn” and “Nemesis” all picked up a plethora of coverage with Kerrang Radio as ‘Featured Artist Of The Week’, RTE2XM, Amazing Radio, Alyx Plays Punk, Endeavour FM, BT TV, Moshville Times, Gig Radar, Crowd Salat, Hardbeat and Total Rock Radio, as well as landing official playlisting with Apple Music, Deezer and Pandora. ‘Paradise’ is the final single ahead of the album release and accompanies a unique and cerebral video. The band recently announced that their album “Unity” will be released on the June 25, 2021 and have a very limited run of tapes which you can pre order from the link below. The tapes also have a bonus track added to them called “Warrens” which is exclusive to that format.
Speaking about “Paradise,” Andy Wilson Taylor says – “‘Paradise’ was one of the last songs I finished writing lyrics for when writing ’Unity’. I was watching the Netflix series ‘Dark’ at the time, I absolutely love that show – the story, the cinematography, the soundtrack, everything – and it got me thinking about what it might be like to meet a past, or future version of myself. What would it feel like to be confronted by everything I had become? ‘Paradise’ became a conversation between my past, present and future self. Knowing what you need to do to get where you want to be can be extremely frightening and overwhelming; so this song is about that internal struggle and battle. The video – which I shot during another lockdown, so once again had to be filmed totally solo – took a slightly different angle. I wanted to reflect on the creative journey I’ve been on with this album over the last 18 months, and the music videos that accompany the singles. I’ve had to dig deep to get this album together on my own, so the video became a visual representation of searching for creative inspiration by looking within myself. It turns out, that’s not always a comfortable process and it often involved confronting my demons along the way.”
