Oviedo, Spain based Experimental/Drone duo Spagyria is gearing up to release their debut album “Arcane Arts” on June 02, 2023 via Vita Detestabilis Records as a limited cassette edition. The album is composed of two tracks that sum up over 30 minutes of drone improvisation.

Miguel Palou (Doce Fuegos, Pylar) and Juan Cabotá have joined forces for a sound exploration of the earthly and mystical planes of music through improvisation. Using three electric instruments (guitar, mandolin, and violin), Spagyria performs their music influenced by great alchemists of frequencies such as Sunn O)))), Earth, Sumac, Wolvserpent, or Pylar.
“Arcane Arts” is the first act of these improvisations: a search in the Dark for the cathartic and purgative properties of melodies and distortions, following the light of knowledge and friendship.
This path involves the search for musical and ecstatic self-knowledge; it is the encounter between two musicians who share their concern to explore their limits in music and to find a sonorous remedy to the complexity of a sick society. Just as Paracelsus searched through plants and alchemy for the formulas that could heal themthat could heal people’s bodies and minds, Spagyria takes its name from the work of the master alchemist searching in the decibels for purging, healing, and revival.
Alchemy is not just the most primordial chemistry; it is not just about chemistry; it is not simply about transforming metals or the search for the Philosopher’s Stone. Alchemy is also is also a path to knowledge: knowing the world, the tangible and the tangible and the intangible, the physical and the transcendental, all that surrounds us.
