The Oceanย presents the instrumental version of their latest album “Holocene,” which was just released this Friday, June 16, 2023 via Pelagic Records.
June 16, 2023 sees the release of the instrumental version of The Oceanโs “Holocene” on all digital streaming platforms. As most of you probably know, weโve been releasing instrumental versions of all of our albums in all formats ever since “Heliocentic.” We feel that they offer a different perspective on the music, not competing with the vocal versions but coexisting in the same sphere. All The Ocean albums are written as instrumentals initially โ adding vocals is always the final step, and the greatest transformation that these songs go through during the writing process when Loรฏc adds his black magic to them.
The instrumental version of “Holocene” is available on vinyl and CD format also, as part of the ltd. “Holocene” boxset. A standalone version is available for retail, and as of today also through the Pelagic shop.

Coalescing around a shared vision of limitless sonic exploration and heaviness, The Ocean is a Berlin-based group of artists that has released 10 studio albums since 2001, the most recent two of which entered the official German album charts at #9 and #15 respectively. Over the course of their storied career, the band has toured the world extensively from North to South America to Australia, Russia, China and Japan. Being revered as one of the most devastating live bands in contemporary heavy music, The Ocean will be presenting material off their recent album “Holocene,” which adds a closing chapter to their palaeontology-inspired album series, for the first time live.
This Will Destroy You are a Texan group who compose lengthy, atmospheric instrumental pieces utilizing a variety of guitar effects and dynamic changes. They incorporate influences such as shoegaze, Ambient, Doom Metal and Post-Rock into their sound. The band havenโt toured Europe since 2018 โ indeed their last extensive tour was in 2014 (a short run followed in 2016), so many cities have been waiting for the band to return. Earlier this year, Chris King and Jeremy Galindo announced that for the first time in 15 years they were working on new music with fellow founding member Raymond Brown (with Christopher Gaylor) completing the lineup on drums.
