Nick D’Virgilio (Big Big Train, ex-Spock’s Beard), Neal Morse (Transatlantic, NMB, ex-Spock’s Beard) and Ross Jennings (Haken, Novena) recently announced the release of their debut album “Troika,” in released on February 25, 2022 via Inside Out Music. Neal Morse‘s comment on the new single: “A long time ago my parents allowed my siblings and me to go to the movie ‘Woodstock’ at the cinema. It was classified as ‘forbidden to minors under the age of 17’ and it was an important thing at the time. I was pretty overwhelmed by all the great music in that movie and one of the bands that I fell in love with and still are was Crosby, Stills and Nash. You can definitely feel their influence in this song.
I wrote this song one morning when my wife was having a bad day. No matter what happens, our lives are completely intertwined within.“

The album was recorded during the lockdown starting from some acoustic tracks recorded by Neal Morse expressly designed for the voice of former Spock’s Beard partner Nick D’Virgilio and the talented Ross Jennings. All three discovered they had songs that would benefit from the harmonic blend of the three parts and so they pooled their resources by creatively inserting themselves into each other’s compositions.
Neal‘s comment: “What a great pleasure it was to work on this album with these amazing artists! It was a lot of fun… We worked on the songs remotely for several months before I finally heard all of us singing together at the same time and in the same room. The first time I raised the faders I knew we had magic in our hands!“
Nick‘s comment: “I have known and worked with Neal for over 30 years and have always been a huge fan of Ross and his music. I felt it would be phenomenal to be an active part of this project. I was not wrong.“
Ross‘s comment: “Receiving the call from Neal to participate in this project was like the fulfillment of a prayer … as a longtime fan of their work, it seemed very natural for my voice to join the team.”
