Kuusamo, which composes Experimental Finnish Rock leaning on Country, Folk and Krautrock, has signed a record deal with Svart Records. The band’s debut album “Lost in the Wind” will be released in early June. The members of the band have a wealth of experience from Teletext 666 to French Films, but the backgrounds of this project can be better understood through the childhood experiences of the Huotar brothers Tero and Timo.
“The name of the band originates from the idea that everything is better in Kuusamo. And that you can find yourself there or there. There must be something longing for the past in the name. Plus, it sounds good and mythical, even if we don’t make songs from old folk tales. I recently looked at old pictures where Timo and I were spinning somewhere in Kuusamo. When I watch them, I think that Kuusamo could be the name of the next band,” the band’s guitarist-singer Tero carefully opens the backgrounds related to the band’s name.
Kuusamo was founded in the beginning of 2020. According to their own words, the band originated from “apparent stagnation, to later become a channel that creates its own channels without caring about the will of the streams that feed it”. The first single “DMT-matka” of the upcoming album has been composed and lyrics on the home couch, during the darkest corona lock in the spring and winter of 2020.
