AMS Records exclusive for Record Store Day 2022. Double release, in the best record stores, for two albums that have many things in common: two soundtracks, both from the 70s, two special edition vinyls, a surname, Simonetti . AMS releases the first ever vinyl reissue of Enrico Simonetti’s Gamma soundtrack and the first ever vinyl edition of Wampyr by Goblin, starring Claudio Simonetti.
Gamma is one of the most important and popular Italian dramas of the 1970s, a sort of 1975 mini-series that combines mystery and science fiction, posing interesting ethical questions of a scientific and medical nature. The soundtrack, composed and directed by Enrico Simonetti, is a perfect combination of Classical, Jazz and Pop music, with forays into Prog and Funk-Rock territories. The single of the main theme reached the first place in the standings, a success that prompted Cinevox Record to release in 1976 an LP with the two tracks Gamma and Drug’s Theme created specifically for the script, and other compositions written by Simonetti. Like many productions of the time, the making of the Gamma soundtrack is still today surrounded by an aura of mystery, but it is certain that the Goblin, fresh from the success of Profondo Rosso at the time, took part in the recordings: Drug’s Theme in particular seems to come directly from a jam session of the Roman group, quintet at the time. The RSD 22 edition is 180gr white vinyl.
