Talking Elephant Records is getting into the festive spirit releasing a special version of “Gateway,” a track from the forthcoming album by Van Der Graaf Generator’s David Jackson and René van Commenée’s. The single is be available as a digital download from both Talking Elephant and David Jackson’s Bandcamp platforms on Friday 15 December at 9am.
A radio edit of Gateway’ was recently released to broadcasters but the festive ambience of the track makes it an obvious choice to offer it as a Christmas single to fans. Jackson explains “The track was inspired ‘by the mood invoked by Kaprekar’s Constant’s Christmas single ‘All You Wish Yourself’. I wrote a coda march for it which was never used but when I sent it to René he created a completely new piece.”
“Gateway” (Radio mix) offers a tantalizing glimpse of the full length version of the track that features on the duo’s forthcoming album to ‘Keep Your Lane’. The studio album is due for release in February 2024.
