About Benoît Martiny:

After a few years of lovely Jazz education at the Conservatory of Rotterdam, Benoit concluded his musical studies by spending some time in the USA, playing and studying in places like New Orleans, Dallas and New York. Back in Europe Benoit formed his own band, the BMB. As session musician, he worked for the Sascha Ley Band, Neco Novellas, Mdungu, Laki Latino. He also played concerts with Randy Brecker and in ‘World Squad‘ with Oghene Kologbo, former guitar player of the great Fela Kuti from Nigeria. Lately, he joined the main rap act in Luxembourg ‘De Läb,’ toured and recorded for the Metal band Cultura Tres, formed an unexpected duo with the bass clarinetist Michel Pilz and proposed the BMB & The Grand Cosmic Journey a ‘big band‘ form of his quintet grouping 11 musicians and delivering a great progressive and jazz-rock music for which will release that new album titled “Moons of Uranus.”

Through the years with his different bands whatever the genre he got the opportunity to open on tour with international artists like Cheryl Lynn and Ray Parker jr, CavaleraConspiracy, Dimmu Borgir, Tower of Power, Cypress Hill, Sting and Shaggy, Lettuce, Black Stone Cherry and many more.

About Benoît Martiny Band:

The Benoît Martiny Band also called by the hardcore fans the Mighty BMB are an established institution. Over the course of two decades, they have consistently demonstrated a spirit of creative independence, performing all over the world, from Japan to South America, from a smoky bar to some of the most recognized festivals.

The Benoit Martiny Band or BMB are a Jazz-Rock Band formed in summer 2004 somewhere in between a garage in Rameldange (LU) and the streets of Rotterdam (NL).
The band consists of Luxembourgish Benoit Martiny on drums, Hungarian Sandor Kem on Bass and from The Netherlands Jasper van Damme and Joao Driessen on Saxophones and Frank Jonas on electric guitar.
The music they play is composed by Martiny and is inspired by Jazz, Rock, Free Jazz, and Psychedelia. Over the years BMB has released 6 albums and 2 DVDs.
The band was nominated for the Dutch Jazz Competition in 2005 and won the Amersfoort Jazz Talent Award in 2008. Apart from touring all over Europe the band has also played concerts and festivals in South America, Japan and Middle East.
In 2014, they extended the BMB experience with The Grand Cosmic Journey, especially created for the Like a Jazzmachine festival in Dudelange. The GCJ can consist of any guest musicians the band collaborates with. The journey was continued in a sold out concert in Luxembourg`s Philharmonie in 2019, an eclectic performance completed with Vjing and free improvisations. The concert was recorded and released as an album titled “Moons of Uranus” in 2020.
