Progressive Metal outfit Forever In Transit is set to release their new album, “A Coming to Terms,” on September 13th, 2024. The follow-up to their 2018 debut “States of Disconnection” and 2019’s EP “Re:Connection,” “A Coming to Terms” delves deep into themes of identity, self-acceptance, and personal transformation.

Led by multi-instrumentalist Dan Sciolino, the band has crafted a dynamic sonic journey that blends intricate, high-energy Progressive Metal with Ambient soundscapes. Known for their genre-spanning influences and commitment to artistic freedom, “A Coming to Terms pushes the boundaries of modern Progressive Metal.

A standout on the album is the track “Enter the Void,” featuring a guest performance by Diego Tejeida (ex-HakenTEMIC) on keyboards. Tejeida, who also mixed the album, brings his signature atmospheric textures to the track, adding another layer to Forever in Transit‘s complex sound. The album was recorded by Nick Borgosz and mastered by Andy VanDette (Porcupine TreeRushDevin Townsend), ensuring a production quality that complements the band’s visionary approach.

Commented Sciolino: “Our upcoming album ‘A Coming to Terms’ deals largely with the challenges of navigating the process of self-discovery, the difficulty of separating our concept of “self” and outside influences, and ultimately growth and the trials we go through to become the best version of ourselves.  Lyrically, I explored many different perspectives of philosophy and spirituality as reference points.  I wanted to find a balance between the positives of self-discovery and growth, but while respecting the trauma that we sometimes have to experience to get there.  I hope anyone listening to the album will find some meaning in the concept we present on ‘A Coming to Terms.’”

Each track on the album serves as a chapter in the overarching narrative, reflecting the struggles and triumphs of self-identity. The album opens with “Let Go Your Earthly Tether,” a powerful introduction to the themes of detachment from biases and attachments that prevent self-awareness. “What Lies Beneath” addresses the conflict between our self-narratives and true identity, while “Streams of Thought” captures the frustration of searching for meaning and inner peace.

The journey continues with “I Cling to Threads,” which explores the challenge of letting go of expectations that cause suffering, and “Enter the Void”, a meditation on impermanence and the freedom that comes from releasing preconceived notions of who we should be. The album reaches its emotional climax with “Empty and Become Wind,” a track about self-actualization, and closes with the title track, “A Coming to Terms,” where acceptance and love for oneself are fully realized.

Dan Sciolino adds: “The album starts at a place where the narrator is questioning where they are in life and asking fundamental questions about who they are, especially when you strip away external attachment. From there, each track unveils a different step in the journey, until we arrive at a place where the narrator is at a place where they can fully accept the person they are, as they are, realizing that integrity to self is what will allow them to reach the goal they are after. Along the way, they have to navigate the pitfalls of their own biases and attachments, fears and insecurities, and emerge on the other side a better person. In a way, this is what Forever in Transit is for me – the lyrics are informed of my own experiences in this pursuit, but I wanted to present them in a way where anyone can find a bit of themself or their experience.
