On Friday, October 18, 2024, the second preview of the debut album by Indie/Psych Folk-Rock singer-songwriter Misha Chylkova will be released digitally. Compared to the previous single “Sparrows,” “The Loop” – here in the “radio edit” version – offers another distinctive taste of the sounds found in “Dancing the Same Dance,” the full-length album set to be released on vinyl, CD, and digitally by the British independent label Gare Du Nord Records on November 15, 2024. Watch the video through the YouTube player below:
As the title suggests, “The Loop” is a circular track with a motorik rhythm in the second part, featuring multiple vocal and instrumental layers that progressively overlap with naturalness, grace, and a notable amount of elegance. Hypnosis is guaranteed, also thanks to the excellent work done by James Aparicio (Depeche Mode, Grinderman, Liars, Mogwai, Spiritualized?, Laibach, etc.) in mixing and Jonathan Clayton (Hurtling, Jim Bob) in mastering and co-producing. It’s recommended for fans of Low, Angel Olsen, Black Heart Procession and Suicide.

“The Loop is the second single from my upcoming album Dancing the Same Dance, and I think its title says it all. The track is structured around a repeating loop, with evolving dynamics that shift throughout the song” says singer-songwriter Misha Chylkova. “The layered vocals create a psychedelic atmosphere, at times almost disorienting, but that’s exactly what I love when everything comes together perfectly. The title also resonates in the lyrics but is open to the audience’s interpretation. The video was shot in Milan with my band, and we had a lot of fun making it. I think Frank Monopoli, who directed and edited the video, beautifully captured the essence of the track.”
Misha Chylkova is a Londoner of Czech origin. Always drawn to darkness and repetition, her artistic perspective offers a highly personal view of reality and romantic relationships. In her music, elegance meets simplicity, as she gradually layers melodic threads into a crescendo of complexity. This melodic minimalism, enriched with a touch of sharp humour, was forged in London, where Misha fell in love with music and began playing within the anti-folk scene alongside artists such as The Awkward Silences, David Cronenberg’s Wife and Extradition Order. In 2020, she started a fruitful collaboration with Darren Hayman (Hefner), Ian Button (Death in Vegas, Thrashing Doves), and Jonathan Clayton (Hurtling, Jim Bob), which led her to release several singles between 2021 and 2022 with the independent label Gare Du Nord Records. The same artistic partnership is the foundation of her debut album, “Dancing the Same Dance” (Gare Du Nord), set for release in November 2024.
