Risen from the post-communist ashes in the late eighties and early nineties, Stoner and Doom (especially Black Sabbath) influences emerged with bands like Bjesovi and Block Out. After the democratic revolution in 2000, new acts like Consecration, Jewy Sabatay and Temple of the Smoke embraced these influences even more. The scene thrives today with distinct characteristics that spread across the country, with Novi Sad boasting the most vibrant community, exemplified by Lednik and Northern Revival. While mainstream festivals rarely feature them, Mount of Artan fest is celebrated for its focus on the occult within the stoner/doom/psych realm.
