Toronto, Ontario based Stoner/Doom band Riffs of Retribution published the official visualizer foir the single “Retribution” taken from their debut self-titled EP, out on May 15, 2025. Watch the video through the YouTube player belew:
AL “Yeti Bones” Petrovich (Gypsy Chief Goliath, The Mighty Nimbus, Georgian Skull), Tryg Smith (Electric Magma), and Brett Savory (ex-Inner Misery) have officially come together to form a new Stoner Rock/Metal trio named Riffs of Retribution.
The new band began writing in April of this year, and are planning a fall 2023 release for their self-titled EP. They will be pressing vinyl for their debut material.
“I’m super-excited that this project is happening,” says Smith. “We’ve been friends—and admirers of each other’s talent—for literally decades, but the timing was just never right for us to work together. Well, it appears the stars have finally aligned, and I can’t wait to get in the studio to record these songs.”
AL adds: “Yeah, I’ve always been a fan of these guys’ playing, and the chemistry is undeniable. We’ve all remained friends for over 20 years, and the timing finally working out for RoR to come together has really lit a fire under me. During the last few years I really lost a lot of love, passion and steam for playing. But after expressing these feelings to Tryg, we quickly realized we were both in the very similar boat, and had been for awhile. It was funny how things worked out. Tryg said, ‘Riffs of Retribution, my friend.’ We smiled and decided it’s going to happen. Of the three songs we’ve written so far, people will be able to see our past influences in the material, but with a new flavour that’s only been made possible through the dynamics of the three of us coming together.”
Savory shares his bandmates’ enthusiasm: “Like Tryg said, we’ve known each other for forever, but it wasn’t until Tryg and Al ran into each other at an Alice Cooper concert that the seed of the band was planted. After those two decided they wanted to work on something together, they reached out to me and, of course—always wanting to have played with them
both—I was 100% in the moment they asked me.”
