Originally released in 1981 and now available on CD for the first time in 2025 via Azafrán Media, Un Producto De Los Sesentas is a landmark work in Mexican Progressive Rock and Folk.
“Un Producto de Los Sesentas” is more than a “cult” album: It’s a statement. A clear expression of sensibility through graceful arrangement for the poetry of Bertolt Brech, Jorge Manrique and Eblen Macari. Two worlds united. Baroque Music meets Mexican traditional and Contemporary accents.
This album blends Progressive Rock (MCC’s Humberto Álvarez keyboards are quite a treat) with emphasis in the lyrics and the subtle arrangements for a small group of musicians. Jeanette Macari’s soprano voice and the strings shine in a unique way. The strings shine, performed by Óscar Reynoso.
It’s Electronic, Contemporary and fresh. Acoustic, almost pastoral in feeling and seamlessly beautiful. From Blondel to Anthony Phillips. From Pentangle to Feliu Gasull.
The album was remixed and remastered by Eblen Macari Martínez (Eblen’s son) from the original master tapes and the final outcome is stunning.
Progressive? Absolutely! Contemporary? For sure! Eclectic? Shhh, listen! Yes, beautiful music that stands tall against the test of time. The music is simple and complex at the same time.
