Swedish Doom Metal act Grim Colossus has announced that their new EP, “Unhallowed Blasphemies,” will be released on November 28, 2025. The record follows the 2024 full-length “Descent Into Madness” and is now available for pre-order on Bandcamp.
“Unhallowed Blasphemies” features four tracks inspired by the stories of H.P. Lovecraft. As with their previous work, the EP delivers the same dark atmospheres, with haunting riffs and dramatic vocals that weave tales of horror.
Fans can get a taste of what to expect from the EP with the single “The Whisperer.” Inspired by The Whisperer in Darkness, the track tells the story of a man investigating strange, crustacean-like corpses found after a flood in Vermont, which leads him to an eccentric hermit tormented by an alien race from the hills near his home. A dark and brooding sound, centered on heavy riffs and a gloomy atmosphere, accompanied by unsettling lyrics and vocal style, has always been the goal of Grim Colossus, the one-man band from the Swedish island of Hönö, just outside Gothenburg.
Influenced by epic and traditional Doom Metal acts such as Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, and Trouble, among other great Metal bands, these influences are evident in the music and were immediately noticeable to new fans from the debut EP in 2022.
What initially started as a collection of scattered musical ideas without a clear direction quickly evolved into something with a life of its own, after igniting a spark within the artist.
While hints of the aforementioned influences can still be detected, Grim Colossus continues to develop their own sound and identity with each new release.
