After 50 years, the legendary Cervello return with “Chaire,” produced by Corrado Rustici.
A journey between past and present, where ideas written between 1974 and 1983 come to life, and where the original voice of Gianluigi Di Franco (1949–2005) — restored from vintage recordings — once again resonates in all its purity.
“Chaire” will be available on December 05, 2025, released by Sony Music Italy in an exclusive CD and LP edition, together with the 1973 live album, “Live in Naples 1973.”

Despite their brief career, Cervello’s influence has never faded: “Melos” has been rediscovered and loved by generations of fans all over the world, becoming a true cult album.
Today, fifty years later, Cervello return with “Chaire” — produced by Corrado Rustici and based on songs written between 1974 and 1983, now finally arranged and recorded over the past four years by the surviving original members:
Corrado Rustici – guitar, keyboards, vocals
Antonio Spagnolo – bass, acoustic guitar, recorder, vocals
Giulio D’Ambrosio – flute, saxophone, vocals
Gianluigi Di Franco – lead vocals
With the addition of Roberto Porta on drums
The irreplaceable voice and soul of Cervello, Gianluigi Di Franco, passed away in 2005. Thanks to recent advances in audio restoration, his performances — rescued from fragile two-track reels and cassettes of the time — have been brought back to life, allowing Chaire to exist both as a tribute and as a new creation.
To celebrate this return, “Chaire” is released together with a 1973 live recording, capturing Cervello performing tracks from their debut album and an unreleased instrumental piece. Two precious documents that connect the band’s legendary beginnings with their present-day rebirth.
And a new remastered version of “Melos”
Fifty years after “Melos,” “Chaire” stands as a testament to friendship, memory, and the timeless power of music. It is both a greeting and a farewell — a gift from the past, reborn for the present.
Corrado Rustici stated on Facebook:
In the past fifty years, some of the pieces written by Gianluigi Di Franco and me, between 1974 and 1982, had remained frozen in time: simple ideas recorded on cassette tapes and two-track reels, meant to become Cervello’s second album. After the band’s breakup, however, they fell into a state of hibernation that, paradoxically, preserved their original purity intact. Today, after all our human and musical experiences, I know it would have been impossible to recreate the innocence and creative direction of those times. Once again, technology opens new possibilities: what has happened in recent years has allowed us to bring those ideas back to life, with Gianluigi’s voice. For me, it is almost a miracle to hear his voice again — still naively innocent — giving shape to the melodies and restoring meaning to this release and these songs. It took years to refine these seven tracks, and I sincerely hope that all the fans who have followed us since 1973, all around the world, can enjoy this music. It is our way of saying thank you for having supported us through all these years.
