Formed in 2023 following the dissolution of Spanish Metal act DarkCrown, HZ Theory brings together seasoned musicians from across the national metal scene, including former members of DarkCrown, Kancerbero, Anairt, and PurpleSnake. The project was built with a clear mission: push heavier, more expansive songwriting driven by Technical precision and strong Melodic hooks.

During the band’s early phase, founding member Josema Moreno (ex-DarkCrown) stepped away for personal reasons. For the recording of the band’s first two singles, HZ Theory collaborated with renowned drummer Emilio Kanina, whose powerful and dynamic performance helped shape the band’s evolving sound.

With ‘The Call,’ we wanted to move beyond reinterpretations and fully establish our own identity. The song tells the story of an oppressed people awaiting liberation through prophecy, using mythological imagery as a reflection of real-world social injustice, control, and resistance.

Musically, “The Call” balances aggressive riffing, layered melodies, and progressive structures, pulling influence from Extreme Metal, Progressive Metal, Hard Rock, Thrash, and Classic Metal. Lyrically, the band continues to explore themes of social injustice, collective struggle, and resistance through symbolic storytelling rather than direct slogans, giving the track both emotional weight and narrative depth.

Following their earlier reinterpretation of a well-known ’90s Disco hit, HZ Theory now plants their flag firmly in original territory with “The Call,” signaling the direction of what is to come. With professionally produced releases available across all major streaming platforms and a growing international presence, the band is positioning itself as a serious new contender in the modern Progressive Metal landscape.
