German singer-songwriter Lucy Malheur steps into ambitious territory with “Summer Solstice,” a nearly 19-minute five-part genre-blenfing Rock suite released on March 01, 2026. Far from a conventional single or EP, the release is a self-contained Jazz, Blues, Prog, Psych, and more journey conceived as a sonic portrait of a summer day — from the stillness before dawn to the final glow of dusk.

The suite unfolds across five movements: “The Last Hours Of The Night,” “Daybreak And Sunrise,” “Midday,” “After The Rain,” and “Sunset – The Day Is Gone” — each one a distinct emotional and atmospheric chapter, yet organically connected within a retro-prog framework that owes as much to the classic ’70s Rock tradition as it does to contemporary songcraft.
Hailing from Mönchengladbach, Germany, Lucy Malheur is known for her genre-fluid approach and her soft, distinctly expressive vocal presence. With “Summer Solstice” she pushes her compositional scope further than ever, assembling a full ensemble to bring the vision to life: Rüdiger Blömer on violins and keyboards, Howie Franke, Manna Meurer, and Christoph Hinners on guitars, Steve Turnbull on bass, and Scottish drummer Allan Craig. The result is a layered, Cinematic sound that draws on Psychedelic Rock, Art Rock, and a touch of pastoral Folk — think gentle Symphonic textures woven with electric guitar interplay and Blömer‘s expressive violin lines.
Recorded at G&G Tonstudios in Kaarst and co-produced with Willi Großmann — who also handled mixing and mastering — “Summer Solstice” is a carefully crafted, unhurried listen that rewards full-suite immersion. In an era dominated by three-minute formats, it’s a quietly bold statement: a reminder that some stories still need twenty minutes to be told properly.
