Scotland’s Cinematic Prog architect Ian A. Napier returns with his most ambitious and conceptually cohesive work to date.
The Sanctity Of Crows — the solo project of Scottish multi-instrumentalist Ian A. Napier — has just released “Time,” his third full-length album, on March 19, 2026. Following the guitar-free macro-EP “Terra Incognita” (June 2025) and the acclaimed “Flowers Of The New Dawn” (October 2024), this new record marks a joyful return to guitar-led compositions while pushing even further the layered, cinematic approach that has become the project’s trademark.

The third full album from The Sanctity Of Crows.
Mostly dark, sometimes menacing — even when the music is up beat, there is still often a mysterious undercurrent. Genre-agnostic as always, but hovering somewhere around Progressive Rock/Post-Rock territory.
This release follows the guitar-free experiment macro-EP “Terra Incognita” (Jun 2025), and joyously re-embraces guitar. Much like the previous full album “Flowers Of The New Dawn” (Oct 2024), this is a heavily-layered sonic experience but the composition and arrangement are maybe a touch sharper, and the production a tiny bit less inexperienced.
This turned out to be a concept album.
The first track to solidify was “Just A Minute” [1:00], created in response to a challenge to produce a song of one minute or less duration. It sounded like a reprise of something longer, and so “Another Three Minutes Of Your Life You Won’t Get Back” [3:00] was born soon after.
It seemed like a good idea to have all the song titles on the album reference the concept of time in some way, and to call the album “Time.” When the nine titles were chronologically sequenced, they were found to manifest the endless cycle of birth, life, death and reincarnation.
Apart from the initial track, the titles came first and influenced the mood and instrumentation of the music that was created for them.
