Diatom plays a mix of Post-Metal, Post-Rock, and Alt-Rock. The band started as an instrumental trio in Gdańsk, Poland in 2018. They released their first mini-album, “Diatom” a year later. In 2021, vocalist Michał Kulniew joined the group. Together, they recorded the album “Sól,” which came out in 2022 under Lynx Music. The album featured the singles “Burza” and “Na Skraju.”
Four years after their debut, the band returns with the album “Low Light.” It is a melancholic, poetic record covering various themes, such as lost love, fanaticism, sacrifice, and the vision of the end of the world.
New album marks a departure from previous progressive structures toward compositions that blend rock melody with elements of metal. On “Low Light” extensive instrumental arrangements contrast with high-density sonic sections, creating space for various forms of expression. Diatom’s new music entirely was created in full creative freedom, allowing the group to develop the most complex tracks in their discography to date.
