Belgian piano-driven Post-Rockers We Stood Like Kings have unveiled “Attila of the Sea,” another track from their upcoming sixth album “Pinocchio,” set for release on April 10, 2026 via Kapitän Platte.

A brilliant example of Post-Rock storytelling at its best, “Attila of the Sea” invites the listener on a dark fairy tale across eerie atmospheres, sudden dynamic changes and heavy melodramatic climaxes.
With the previously released single “Assassins” and now “Attila of the Sea” the band really starts to rub it in: the new album Pinocchio will mark a turning point in We Stood Like Kings’ history.
With special mention for the magnificent artwork by Carll Cneut. Preorders for the limited edition LP (first 100 on coloured vinyl) are available via Kapitän Platte.
Piano-driven Post-Rock band We Stood Like Kings from Belgium celebrate 15 years of existence with the release of their sixth album, “Pinocchio,” coming out on April 10, 2026 via Kapitän Platte. The 9-track, 49-minute concept album revisits the world-famous initiatory tale of Pinocchio through the dark and violent lens of betrayal and power struggles.
“This really feels like We Stood Like Kings 2.0, while remaining unequivocally us. It might very well be the record we’ve always wanted to make,” says pianist Judith Hoorens. With its extended use of distorted synths and Heavy Post-Metal riffs, Pinocchio definitely marks a turning point in the band’s history.

“We spent many years focusing on writing live soundtracks to old silent cult movies. On Pinocchio we turned things around for the first time and cherished the opportunity to enjoy total freedom in terms of song structures and moods.” However, similarly to We Stood Like Kings’ previous endeavours USA 1982 or BERLIN 1927, Pinocchio too is an audiovisual project in its own right: live animated visuals — based on sublime black-and-white and colorful drawings by Belgian illustrator Carll Cneut — were created by Cartoonbase Studio to accompany the band’s music on stage, revisiting the story of Pinocchio in both sound and image.
