There’s a reboot happening in Gothenburg, and it comes with a serious groove upgrade. Dead Man’s Dirt — the Swedish Heavy Rock outfit — has officially rebranded as Electric Spark, marking not just a change of name but a genuine evolution in sound, lineup, and direction.
The catalyst? A shift in the rhythm section and a newfound willingness to let the organ breathe. With Hampus on keys stepping into a more central role and Jens joining behind the kit, the band has found a new pulse — rawer, punchier, and with a funkier edge than anything that came before. Think Black Sabbath‘s heaviness colliding with Clutch‘s Bluesy swagger and the soulful, almost Cinematic grit of Sly Stone. Yes, that’s a combination worth paying attention to.
The first track under the Electric Spark banner is “Slapwalker“, dropped on April 4th via Bandcamp, and it wastes no time making a statement. The organ is front and center, Jens brings a near-punkish energy to the kit, and the whole thing moves with a blaxploitation-flavored, Heavy groove that feels both classic and genuinely fresh. It’s the kind of riff-Heavy, organ-soaked Rock that doesn’t get made nearly enough anymore.

The band confirms that some older Dead Man’s Dirt material will carry over, but the new direction is clear: more organ-driven arrangements, more funk in the bloodstream, and a rhythm section with something to prove.
