Captured on February 3, 2025, in a rehearsal room using a single stereo microphone, the session documents a side of the band rarely seen during their structured live performances: a deep dive into free improvisation and jam band dynamics. The release consists of two expansive tracks, “Magic Freakout Session Part 1” (37:54) and “Part 2” (24:20), totaling over an hour of spontaneous musical exploration.
Moving away from pre-composed arrangements, the band describes the recording as an unplanned journey where “no structures, riffs or solos” were prepared beforehand. Instead, the quartet relied on their collective intuition, using their ears as a “map to navigate the ocean of freedom.” The resulting sound is a potent blend of Rock, Jazz, Psychedelic, and Stoner influences, staying true to the core ingredients that define Picaro and the Magic Theatre.
