BAXTY presents “Threshold,” the first in a tripart collection of compositions that entwines emotional storytelling through technical Progressive Music. This trilogy of singles explore the psychological states of a painful realization of truth, the subsequent internal destruction, and the journey to acceptance and rebuilding one’s identity. The single also features Pierre Danel (Novelists), bringing his signature Modern Progressive guitar approach to the composition and adding another layer to BAXTY’s Cinematic and Technical vision.
On “Threshold,” BAXTY shares:
‘Threshold’ represents the culminating point of a deep disappointment — the moment when you finally realize there is no turning back. It’s the instant when illusions begin to collapse and the truth becomes impossible to ignore. The song explores the emotional weight of standing at that edge, where the only option left is to accept reality and take the step toward confronting it.
Commanding intensity strikes from the moment “Threshold” begins. A fast and powerful display of intricate guitar leads traverses above a contrasting heavy rhythmic pattern. The progressive arrangement evokes a sense of unease while the track’s inescapable momentum races forwards. “Threshold” presents a stylistic shift in the following section as the pace is restrained and the instrumental arrangement widens providing space to breathe.
Dynamic orchestration, delicate piano melodies and warm synths aptly convey the emotion and conceptual narrative across “Threshold.” The multi-textural sound contributes to BAXTY‘s detailed sonic world building.

Based out of Santiago, Chile,the solo project BAXTY emerged in 2022 driven by Bastian “Baxty” Martinez‘s need to find his own voice while seeking to connect the Melodic and the aggressive. BAXTY draws heavily from Cinematic sound design and immersive musical experiences, alongside an exploration of self-expression, artistic freedom and emotional storytelling.
Blending intricate and Progressive Technical guitars with impressive soundscapes and emotive narratives, BAXTY takes inspiration from across a wealth of Heavy Music genres and styles into his distinctive compositions. Influences in BAXTY‘s sound derive from an array of bands notably, Dream Theater, The Contortionist, Alice In Chains, Pantera, and Pink Floyd.
In 2024, BAXTY independently released the debut EP “Event Horizon” and collaborated with Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) performing guitar solos on “Into the Lair” and “Embers” from his album “Permission to Fly.” In the same year, BAXTY took to the stage opening for BABYMETAL in Chile during their Knotfest sideshow and opened two nights for Dream Theater at Movistar Arena, the largest indoor venue in Chile. In 2025, BAXTY performed at Guitar Universe Camp on invite from John Petrucci, and BAXTY launched The Baxty Signature Guitar model with Kiesel Guitars.
