ION VEIN Static Vision

Following “Static Vision,” the Chicago-based Progressive Power Metal band ION VEIN presents “Beyond Tomorrow 2025,” their second single from the upcoming “Beyond Tomorrow – 25th Anniversary Edition.” The release, set to drop on November 20, 2026, via Majesphere Records, thus puts the spotlight on the song that gave the debut album its name and a significant part of its thematic focus.

“Beyond Tomorrow” was intended to express the majestic side of ION VEIN. The title-track combines this musical ambition with a positive message: to pursue one’s own goals, overcome difficulties, and not settle for the limits of what has been achieved so far. At concerts back then, the song was a fan favorite and often served as the grand finale of the set.

The band therefore decided early on that this song would also play a central role on the anniversary edition. Due to the condition of the original master tapes, “Beyond Tomorrow” was one of three tracks that were completely re-recorded by the reunited lineup. This new recording became a special part of the project for the five musicians,as working together on the title track brought back memories for the five musicians of the time when their debut album was created. With great enthusiasm, they re-recorded the song and then worked with Jim Morris (Morrisound Studios) on the new mix.

— A Surprise with an Unexpected Turn of Events —

Guitarist Chris Lotesto and singer Russ Klimczak had been mulling over the idea of remastering their debut album for years. During the original production, the fledgling band’s financial resources had been limited. Consequently, both continued to hope that a new mix would give the recordings a wider stage and more sonic depth.

At first, Lotesto and Klimczak wanted to prepare the project within a small circle and surprise the rest of the band with the finished result. The plan was to release an album that would make the debut available on vinyl for the first time and supplement it with old live recordings. It wasn’t until the master tapes went missing that it became necessary to bring the entire band in earlier than planned. What was meant to be a surprise ultimately turned into a collective return to their own songs.

The collaboration with Jim Morris also had a personal background. ION VEIN had long admired his work for bands such as Savatage, Crimson Glory, and Iced Earth. When Lotesto contacted Morrisound Studios about a new mix, it turned out that Morris already knew the band and even owned a copy of “Beyond Tomorrow” himself.

— A Title Track with a Story —

ION VEIN’s musical influences range from Iron Maiden and Metallica to Fates Warning, savatage, and Queensrÿche. In the songs on their debut album, these influences came together in Melodic vocal lines, powerful guitars, and increasingly complex arrangements. “Beyond Tomorrow” was intended to highlight, in particular, the band’s grandeur and expressiveness within this spectrum.

A small detail from that time is also part of the song’s history: The keyboard used for “Beyond Tomorrow” in the studio and on stage was originally a simple Casio toy keyboard. Lotesto had bought it for the album intro “Horizons.” It then accompanied the band for five to six years and was also used on “The Bridge Of Dawn.”
The photos from the band’s archive offer a glimpse into those early years. With “Beyond Tomorrow 2025,” a key element of the concerts from that era is now available to listen to once again—performed by the musicians who had already shaped the song on the debut album.

— About ION VEIN —

ION VEIN was founded in 1995 in Chicago, Illinois, by guitarist and songwriter Chris Lotesto, who had previously been a member of Latent Fury from 1989 to 1994. It wasn’t until late 1997 that the core lineup—featuring vocalist Russ Klimczak, guitarist John Malufka, bassist Brian Gordon, and drummer Scott Lang—came together, a lineup that would have a decisive influence on the band’s early sound.

This lineup made its first joint appearance in November 1997 in Chicago. With their blend of Classic Heavy Metal, Melodic Power Metal, and Progressive arrangements, the band quickly made a name for itself on the local scene.

An important early milestone was their performance at the Powermad Festival in Baltimore in August 1998. Although ION VEIN were still largely unknown there, they managed to attract attention in the American prog and power metal scene. Shortly thereafter, the band began recording their debut album.

“Beyond Tomorrow” was recorded in the summer of 1998 and released in February 1999 on the band’s own label, Majesphere Records. Chris Lotesto served as the primary songwriter, while the final arrangements were developed collaboratively in the rehearsal room. In this way, spontaneous ideas and individual musical motifs evolved into increasingly complex and multi-layered compositions.

In the years that followed, ION VEIN shared the stage with bands such as Armored Saint, Flotsam And Jetsam, Iced Earth, Nevermore, Angra, Overkill, Metal Church, Symphony X, and Fates Warning. In addition, the band was featured on various tribute albums honoring Iron Maiden, DIO, Ozzy Osbourne, King Diamond, and Queensrÿche.

Their debut was followed by “Reigning Memories” in 2003 and their self-titled third studio album, “Ion Vein,” in 2014. After the album’s release and promotion, the band went on hiatus for about ten years. Work on the anniversary edition of “Beyond Tomorrow” has now brought together, for the first time in more than two decades, the five musicians with whom the band’s history and that of their debut album began.
