Black Widow Records has officially expanded its Bandcamp digital archive with the addition of “Crystal Phoenix,” the self-titled debut album by the Italian Epic Progressive/Folk Rock project.
Originally conceived in 1989 in Domodossola by composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Myriam Sagenwells Saglimbeni, Crystal Phoenix established a distinctive presence within the Italian underground scene. Melding Progressive Rock and Celtic Folk textures with classic Hard Rock and Heavy Metal elements, the work pairs acoustic arrangements, featuring harp, flutes, and harpsichord, with driving electric guitars and fantasy-inspired thematic narratives. The record also marks a significant milestone in Italian progressive history, having served as the inaugural release in the Black Widow Records catalog (BWR 001).
The album has been made available for streaming and high-quality digital download via Bandcamp. Alongside the digital edition, the release is available in physical formats, including a Compact Disc (CD) packaged with a 16-page booklet featuring original artwork, band photography, and complete lyrics in English and Italian. The CD and digital editions include four archival bonus tracks: three selections from the original 1989 demo tape and the 2011 version of “474 Anno Domini.” A physical Vinyl LP edition is also available.
