Iron Jinn’s upcoming studio album “Zeitgeist On The Run” (18 september 2026) is their first as a fivepiece. Within the new compositions, seven pieces in 70 minutes, the band places a strong emphasis on dynamics and musical interplay. Unlike their debut album (2023), an ambitious studio project as a trio, this new studio album was refined and deepened on stages through Europe. It introduces new colors in the form of two adventurous players: bassist Gerben Bielderman and keys player Jarno van Es, the latter debuted with Iron Jinn on Roadburn and luckily never left.
In the first single of the new album, 18-minute epos “The Futurist,” you hear Jazzy McCoy Tyner chords and riffs like molochs roll into a Steve Reich-ian minimal music jam, where guitars, cellos and keys subtly build a cathedral of sound; brick by brick. A lot of bands are Psychedelic in sound, but Iron Jinn excels in mind-bending ideas. A distorted banjo is used to churn out rapid rolls like machine gun fire, while the voices of singers Wout Kemkens and Oeds Beydals reverberate their words about a world where technology is seen as salvation and models and data as messiahs. A reality where people are expected to adapt to the systems instead of the other way around. Later in the song Kemkens croons and echoes the words of Oppenheimer and Plato and just a few moments later (in the closing seconds of the track) you hear the most balls out version of Iron Jinn yet. This band is all about contrasts and it really shows in “The Futurist.” Yes, if you want to be hard as a rock you also have to be sweet as silk.
The album recordings — under the helm of Pieter Kloos (Motorpsycho/The Devil’ Blood/DOOL) — took place in a former dance studio, quite fitting since the band plays more light-footed than on Iron Jinn’s former Heavy, sometimes Doomy, studio work.
The album is being released in collaboration with Suburban Records and will be out september 18th. The releaseparty will take place on the 19th at Doornroosje, Nijmegen.
Iron Jinn will play clubshows in support of the new album.

Iron Jinn consists of Oeds Beydals (The Devil’s Blood/Molassess/Death Alley), Wout Kemkens (Shaking Godspeed/De Niemanders), Bob Hogenelst (Birth of Joy/Molassess), Jarno Van Es and Gerben Bielderman (Pauw). The debut album (Stickman Records, 2023) caught the attention of Desertrock master Alain Johannes (QOTSA/Them Crooked Vultures) who asked Iron Jinn as a backing band and co-headliner for his European shows. So Iron Jinn ended up playing some back to back shows together with Alain, the legendary TV show ‘2 meter sessions’ (known from Nirvana, Radiohead etc.) was one of them. The Iron Jinn debut album releaseparty was held at the Roadburn Festival in a packed Green Room (watch the concert movie), a week later the band played Desertfest London and Sonic Whip Festival followed by their own clubshows. Dutch Rockers De Staat invited Iron Jinn as guests on their Red Yellow and Blue tour which brought the band to the Paradiso and Doornroosje main halls. In 2023 Iron Jinn went on their first full month long European tour together with Blackwater Holylight (USA) which brought the band to 14 countries.
After returning from their first tour the band worked on their live album with Pieter Kloos, for what became “Live at Roadburn” released by Lay Bare Recordings in a packed releaseshow at Ekko, Utrecht. While the band started writing the new album Berlin’s Delving (Nick Disalvo Elder’s new side project) asked them to join for a European tour at the end of 2024. In 2025 the band wrapped up the recordings for their second studio album and performed several exclusive shows, amongst Volcano Sessions in France, to try out the new material.
