Featuring 20 international underground Doom Metal bands, the project marks its fifth release of the year and reaches a milestone of 100 total participating acts, with all proceeds benefiting nina+nico e.V.
German DIY initiative Last Cathedral Records, founded by musician Michael Heß (Tales of Mike) in Reichshof, has released its fifth digital benefit compilation, titled “The Last Farewell.” Officially launched on October 30, 2026, the release concludes the label’s 2026 series, following four previous installments throughout the year: “The Silent Remains” (May), “The Final Witness” (June), “The Ancient Vigil” (July), and “The Veiled Saint” (September).

Operated as a non-commercial platform, Last Cathedral Records curates digital compilations to provide international underground doom metal artists with broader reach while raising funds for charity. All proceeds from “The Last Farewell” are donated directly to nina+nico e.V., a non-profit support and counseling center based in Gummersbach, Germany, which has provided assistance to individuals affected by sexual, psychological, and physical violence for over 30 years.
“The Last Farewell” features 20 tracks representing a wide spectrum of the Doom Metal genre, including Traditional and Epic Doom, Funeral Doom, Death/Doom, Sludge, and Stoner Metal. With this collection, Last Cathedral Records achieves a key milestone of featuring 100 independent bands across its five compilations released in 2026.
