We are pleased to offer you in this article an interview with an Austrian band offering a
Classic Rock sound tainted with Stoner and Metal traits whose new single “The Deal” was
released on April 08, 2022. Welcome to Diamond Skull.
Hi, how are you?
Thank you, everything is fine, we´re sitting here in hot Vienna and working on new
recordings..
The genre it proposes is a Classic Rock with different contaminations and 70s
reminiscences, where does your passion for these sounds come from?
I think we’re all shaped by the music we grew up with.. Doors, Zeppelin, 80’s hard rock,
from 90’s death metal to the first desert rock records.. we’ve pulled all of that in over and
over again 🙂
Your debut album was released in 2018 and now a new single is out. How would you
describe these works?
Our new single “The Deal” came about through a live session, it was a magical coming
together of riff and groove, we tried to keep that raw energy of the live session and always
wanted it to be very deep and straight..
This new single has seen your comeback after a hiatus, is there an album coming out?
Definitely, we are in a spirit of optimism and are currently working on new recordings, a
few songs are already in the can, one can be curious.. 🙂
Your music is full of contaminations, how does the composition of the songs take place?
Most of the songs are simply created at home on the guitar, without thinking too much
about it, take your first emotion, don’t change it anymore and make a song out of it. That’s
the only way it stays real and touches you..
And then there are live sessions in the studio, which come straight from the gut without
speaking much.. that’s what we like best.
Many of your fans and readers are wondering if there will be a chance to hear your
music live, do you have any plans for that?
Definitely, some concerts are already planned in Austria this year, and we hope to do small
foreign tours with label mates in the near future, now that it’s possible again.. We hope to
come near you!
A few years have passed since your debut album and now you have released a new
single, how has your sound evolved over time?
We always try to get the best out of ourselves, we have to sweat 🙂 In the last few years we
have also had line-up changes in the band, which of course characterizes the band sound
the most, but we always try to stay on point and deliver concentrated energy.. 🙂
The music market has changed a lot in recent years, how difficult is it to establish
yourself with a more sought-after musical genre like yours?
I think it was never easy, there are and always have been many good bands in all different
genres, we just do our thing and are happy to be able to touch people with it..
What advice would you give to a young band approaching the modern music scene by
offering sounds like yours?
Just keep going!
As usual, I leave the last question free, to allow you to talk about any topic of your
choice not touched on in the previous questions.
I’m definitely hungry again, but have to feed the puppy first… 🙂
I thank the Diamond Skulls for the pleasant interview, wishing them the best for the
continuation of their musical career.
Thanks for the wonderful interview!
