The Belgian quartet Gros Coeur continues to reveal the many layers of their upcoming album “Vague Scélérate” (Spinda Records) — out November 21, 2025 — with “Contre-Corps,” an almost eight-minute-long second single released October 24, that encapsulates the band’s most expansive, rhythmic, and emotional essence.
“Contre-Corps” acts as both the natural closing track of “Vague Scélérate” and a statement of intent. The song opens in a humid, kaleidoscopic atmosphere before bursting into a more urgent section where rhythmic tension and tropical pulse collide in a cathartic climax.
On a conceptual level, “Contre-Corps” explores the dissonance between collective euphoria and individual introspection – that fleeting moment when the rhythm slips away and you find yourself dancing alone amid the noise. With its blend of tribal energy, restrained melancholy, and Tropical Psychedelia, Gros Coeur turns that feeling into an emotional trance where movement and detachment finally reconcile.
Following “Montréal,” the album’s first single, this second release confirms the multifaceted nature of Vague Scélérate: a record in which Gros Coeur refines their distinctive mix of Psychedelic Rock, Kraut-inspired grooves, danceable energy and pop sensibility, always balancing experimentation and immediacy.
