Umbersound, the Doom Metal solo project of Joe D’Angelo of Grey Skies Fallen, has released a new album, entitled “If The Flies Could Sing.” The full-length, consisting of 10 tracks for over 44 minutes of visionary musical experience, is available on vinyl and digital.
The artist has released a new video for the mesmerising title track. The track captures the heavy consequences of one’s actions, revealing a moment of reckoning where escape is no longer an option. It is a dark reflection on confronting the past, recognising that redemption only begins when we stop running away from what we have done.

Umbersound‘s new album, “If The Flies Could Sing,” delves into a realm where decadence and beauty intertwine, creating a soundscape as eerie as it is profound. Inspired by the inevitable collapse of all things, the album explores themes of death, transformation and the silent despair that hovers in forgotten places. With each track, the album paints vivid images of decaying nature and the eerie stillness of silence interrupted only by the buzzing of flies.
Musically, “If The Flies Could Sing” pushes the boundaries of doom metal with its slow, theatrically atmospheric riffs, multiple layers and moments of utter vulnerability. The album aims for a very analogue, almost cursed dream-state atmosphere. Joe, the creative force behind Umbersound, blends suffocating heaviness with delicate, ethereal passages, creating a contrast that reflects the delicate balance between life and death, ease and discomfort, love and hate.
From the fading opening distortion to the last depressed and contemplative acoustic note, “If The Flies Could Sing” is a visceral journey through the darkest corners of existence. It is an album that asks the listener to embrace discomfort and face the inevitability of conclusions, while still searching for meaning in the void. This January, prepare to be overwhelmed by the haunting beauty that is Umbersound.
