Earlier this year, French Progressive Metal band Altesia announced its most ambitious work to date with the exciting, immersive, and visceral third album, “The Somnambulist.” The band has long embraced the idea of playing music without labels or boundaries, but “The Somnambulist” is undoubtedly the album that best embodies this vision.
“This album is undoubtedly our most accomplished, collective, and diverse work to date. Every note, every interpretation, every silence, has been thought out and discussed. It marks a turning point in our history as it allowed us to rethink the way we composed music until now, and it lays the groundwork for years to come,” says Clément Darrieu (vocals – guitar).
The band is now pleased to share the official lyric video for new single “The Somnambulist Pt.1,” watch it via the YouTube player below:
The band says this about the new single:
“The Somnambulist Pt.1 was the first song we finished, while working on the next album. This track has everything you can expect from us, and even more! A catchy chorus, layered vocals, nasty djent riffs, a jazzy solo, epic buildings, unexpected breaks… If you like it, then you’ll love The Somnambulist Pt.2 and its 15+ minutes ride, which is the craziest song we’ve ever written.
This song is the track #1 on the record, so it sets the tone for the rest of the album. It’s about a widowed hermit living in a small cabin, deep in the woods. The lyrics deal with his routine and habits and the fact he is still trying to accept his wife’s demise. But we can’t reveal too much for now, otherwise you guys would be spoiled!”
