Brazil’s Doom Metal force Pesta, one of the most compelling bands to rise from the South American underground scene, have unleashed the first single from their long-awaited third album, “The Craft of Pain.”
The track, titled “The Inquisitor, Pt. I,” is now available on all major digital platforms. Serving as the opening chapter of the new record, it delves deeper into the essence of traditional Doom Metal, showcasing Pesta’s ability to merge heaviness, atmosphere, and dark storytelling.
“The Craft of Pain” is set for digital release on October 16th, with a special vinyl edition coming via the U.S. label Glory or Death Records, featuring ultra-limited, handmade variants crafted by Wax Mage Records / Gotta Groove Records in December.
Musically, “The Inquisitor, Pt. I” drags listeners into a slow descent: deliberate, crushing riffs spiral into ritualistic progressions that channel Doom at its most devastating, while flirting with proto-Metal and Heavy Rock tension.
Lyrically, the track conjures the brutality of the Inquisition, not just as a chapter of history, but as a mirror to the present, reflecting how religion, politics, and economic power continue to fuel persecution and silence dissent.
The result is a monumental statement: Doom as it was meant to be, heavy, unflinching, and unafraid to confront the darkness that lingers across centuries.
“The Inquisitor, Pt. I” is out now on all streaming platforms.
— About the new album —
In October 2025, Pesta will release their long-awaited third album, “The Craft of Pain,” digitally. The record will be followed by a deluxe vinyl release later in the year via American label Glory or Death Records, featuring ultra-limited handmade pressings by Wax Mage Records / Gotta Groove Records. The album spans 10 crushing tracks, each exploring historical episodes and figures who left deep scars of pain, violence, and bloodshed across humanity. Themes range from inquisitorial persecution to the greed, lust, and megalomania that have fueled human cruelty throughout the ages. “The Craft of Pain” marks a step forward in every dimension, songwriting, production, and vision. It’s not only Pesta‘s boldest artistic statement to date but also a reflection of the harsh realities of Brazil itself. Social inequality and cultural tension seep through the record’s atmosphere, while subtle Brazilian percussive elements echo the band’s roots.
