Poor Genetic Material Pastoral

German Progressive Rock band Poor Genetic Material have unveiled the official teaser for their upcoming new album, “Pastoral,” set fore release on October 10, 2025.

We are continuing our way of working with two different line-ups: The full eight-piece band (lovingly dubbed “the dinosaur“), which releases an album every three or four years, and a smaller line-up around our core writers to fill in the gaps. The reason is simply that we have too much material for the full line-up to record. But what we write and record with the small line-up is in no way inferior to or less complex than what we do with the dinosaur. It may be more spontaneous and a little leaner production-wise, but we do take the same care concerning songwriting, arrangements and lyrics. In fact, Pastoral may be the emotionally most intense album we have ever made.
For Pastoral the three-piece line-up that recorded Elsewhere in 2023 is re-joined by flutist Pia Darmstaedter. How important Pia is we realized only when she was absent on Elsewhere. Her sound and melodies add something very special to our music. New to the fold is special guest Duncan Ness, met in a chance encounter in Edinburgh last summer. We are definitely looking forward to working with the full band again and in fact, the next album has already been written. But for now Pastoral is an album we are extremely proud of. We hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we enjoyed working on it.
