Stoner Doom Metal pioneers Sleep have officially announced their long-awaited return with a brand new studio album titled “Hempispheres.” The record is set for digital release on September 03, 2026, with a physical vinyl release following on October 30, 2026, via Third Man Records. It marks the band’s first full-length album in eight years, following 2018’s acclaimed “The Sciences.”
To celebrate the announcement, the band has unleashed their Heavy second single, “The Morrisist,” which follows June’s teaser track “Have Spacesuit Will Travel.”

— A Revamped Power Trio Lineup —
“Hempispheres” introduces a major lineup shift for the legendary outfit. While founding vocalist and bassist Al Cisneros remains at the helm, the album features new guitarist Bubba Dupree (Void) and powerhouse drummer Dale Crover (Melvins). Founding guitarist Matt Pike is not involved in this release.
Regarding the sonic chemistry of this new incarnation, the band stated in their official press release:
“The collective mass of the unit is lighter, but the impact is more focused, sharper and nimble.”

— A Multimedia Transmission from Planet Iommia —
The album launch is part of a larger multimedia project. Third Man Books is simultaneously releasing an official Sleep comic book series, expanding the lore of the fictional, smoke-haze “Planet Iommia” that has long inspired the band’s imagery.
To support the release, Sleep will embark on a North American headlining tour kicking off on September 8, 2026.
