Australian Experimental instrumental outfit Yomi Ship have released the official live studio performance for “Tail Of The Angry Goldfish,” a standout track from their album “Baku,” released on September 18, 2026.

Captured at Studio Sleepwalkers Dread in North Dandalup, Boorloo/Perth, the live session showcases the Perth trio’s refined studio direction and evolving instrumental soundscapes. Running at six and a half minutes, the track balances complex Math-Rock rhythms, anchoring basslines, and reverb-drenched guitar arrangements.
“Tail Of The Angry Goldfish” represents a key stage in Yomi Ship’s musical development following their debut album “Feast Eternal.” For their latest material, the band focused on maturing their sound through expanded instrumentation and deeper production layering.
The track features significant contributions from producer and engineer Ron Pollard (Tangled Thoughts of Leaving), who performed additional synthesizers and keys, alongside handling engineering, mixing, and additional composition duties. Final mastering was completed by William Bowden at King Willy Sound.
Commenting on the collaboration and evolution in the studio, the band noted that working with Pollard enabled them to “dive deeper and reach the true potential of each song,” describing “Tail Of The Angry Goldfish” as a piece that “showcases a more refined in-studio side to the band”.
Conceptually, the parent album “Baku” takes inspiration from Japanese Folklore surrounding the Baku—a mythological creature composed of spare animal parts that consumes nightmares. While their previous record “Feast Eternal” was built as a continuous conceptual narrative, Baku functions as a curated assembly where each track stands as an individual piece forming a cohesive whole.
