Giants Dwarfs And Black Holes are a German band that offers a Heavy Psych sound with forays into Blues Rock and Progressive. The new album “Echo On Death Of Narcissus” was released on September 20, 2024 vis Sireena Records and contains five long tracks including an epic over 13 minutes long. The album opens with “Again,” which immediately shows the band’s attitude, with heavy Blues-soaked guitar riffs, warm, punchy vocals and solid rhythm sections. The tempo changes are an added value to the song, as is the intense and pathos-laden vocal interpretation. A constantly evolving track, developed with intense instrumental sections with fine solo guitar work. In the finale, the vocal returns for the last stanzas and returning to the opening theme, the track closes. An interweaving of distorted guitars and bass arpeggios open “Soul Trip,” before developing into a solid rock, fresh and modern. Granitic guitar riffs and powerful vocals add intensity to the song, permeated with darker atmospheres. Here too, the continuous tempo changes are an added value to the song’s structure, allowing the band to explore and mix different genres. The vocal parts alternate with intense instrumental sections with the guitar in evidence. The bass solo interventions are interesting, in a prolonged instrumental section with acid and heavy traits, offering an interweaving of Psychedelia and energetic and elaborate Prog Rock. “Flowers Of Evil” opens with an energetic guitar riff and a solid, elaborate rhythm section over which the dynamic vocals are inserted. An elaborate song that blends different genres and styles through the continuous tempo changes, showing the band’s diverse stylistic influences. In the central part, an extended instrumental section is developed, combining more heavy passages with ethereal and dilated sounds in the finale, accompanying us to the end of the journey. Rough, Blues-soaked Rock sounds characterise “December Bloom,” exploring different characteristics of the band’s sound. in a continuous musical crescendo, the intensity increases, incorporating heavy rock elements, fresh and modern with markedly personal traits. An enveloping track, enhancing the vocal interpretation that keeps the listener constantly involved. The album ends with the epic track “Take Me Down,” characterised by a retro heavy rock sound and dark atmosphere. The rhythm section is gritty and full of tempo changes, good guitar work in both riffs and solo cues, and the punchy, dynamic vocals make the track engaging from start to finish. The long duration is used in its entirety to develop the song’s theme and explore the different facets of the band’s sound, exploring a more Prog and Heavy side at the same time. After an extended instrumental section with forays into more Experimental Psychedelia, the track ends with an intense vocal part.
