Moonseeds project was born in 2018, when returning from a tour with Seedy Jeezus, guitarist Lex Waterreus met Komet Lulu and Sula Bassana (both back then of Electric Moon). Together they spend some good time recording jam sessions, which over the years will be remixed and edited. Finally in 2023, the recordings were completed with overdubs and turned into 3 long tracks. Titled “Moonseeds” it was released on June 28, 2024 via Echodelick Records and Sulatron Records and contains 3 long tracks including an epic over 21 minutes long. The album opens with “earth,” the longest track on the album, exceeding 21 minutes in duration. The trio slowly immerses and envelops us in the album’s sounds, through a prolonged jam session that develops with a slow, percussive rhythm, to which deep, load-bearing bass lines are added to complete the rhythm section. the guitar frees itself to insert itself and develop a prolonged solo, bringing the track’s atmospheres into an Acid and markedly Psychedelic context. The intensity increases as the minutes go by, evolving the track’s central theme and enhancing the trio’s technical abilities. Lysergic and full of cues that combine the traditional sounds of the genre with the band’s modern and markedly personal touch, it takes us on an exploration of modern Psychedelic sounds and its various facets. “sun” is the shortest, still running over seven minutes, developing the sound over a pachydermic rhythm section, which slowly takes us through the track’s sounds. The guitar offers embracing, Psychedelic cues and solo interventions, while the keyboards provide an orchestral background. The atmospheres are melancholic, with the guitar protagonist for the duration of the track in a prolonged solo, intense and full of pathos. In the finale the intensity increases and the band accompanies us towards the finale. The album ends with “moon,” another epic of over 12 minutes in duration, characterised by an enveloping sound and continuing the musical discourse undertaken in the previous ones. The guitar is the protagonist of the melodies and solo interventions, intertwining with the keyboards and enriching itself with effects and modulations, layering itself and taking us to explore the boundaries of modern Psychedelic sounds. The style of the band enhances the jam sessions and the performance technique of the trio, skilled in developing and evolving the central theme in this track as well. With incursions into Experimentation in the second part and a generous use of electronic sounds and modulations, the band accompanies us towards the album’s conclusion, leaving us wanting to listen to this album again in the future. An elaborate album, which enhances the technique of the tremus musicians involved and their ability to propose fresh and modern psychedelic sounds. The classic atmospheres of the genre are revisited and proposed in a modern key and with a personal touch, developing these 3 jam sessions with quality. A recommended listen for all lovers of instrumental Psychedelic Rock sounds, with tracks of long duration that evolve the central theme, spanning genres and styles and creating an enveloping and rich sound.
