Poly-Math is a band originally from Brighton, UK formed in 2013, which pronounces avant-garde sounds. The new album “Zenit” was released on November 18, 2022 via Nice Weather For Airstrikes and contains 8 tracks. The first feeling when listening to the album is that this is a band with clear ideas and a distinctly personal style. The lineup is enriched by the sax, which offers additional solutions both in the melodic lines and in the solo inserts, which are always very refined and sophisticated. The rhythm section is solid, elaborate and at times intricate with killer basslines that give body to the tracks, proving to be the point of union between the drumming and the melodic and solo evolutions of the songs. Jazzy traits blend with Math-Rock, a touch of Prog and Avant-Garde, allowing the band to develop and evolve their personal style with a truly original album. Individual technique is put at the service of the band, creating a blend of virtuosity and more accessible passages, allowing the songs to be engaging throughout. The sound is very intense, making the most of the explosiveness of the band, which combines more energetic openings with more heavy stretches. Fresh, modern and very original, it shows how this band manages to evolve its sound with each release, deserving a place of honour among contemporary bands of the genre. A recommended listen for lovers of the more complex sounds of Prog, with forays into Math-rock and Avant-Garde, a concentrate of technique and energy that is more unique than rare.
