Robot God is a Psychedelic Space Stoner Rock band from Sydney, Australia that manages to bring traditional sounds into a modern and personal context. The new album “Worlds Collide” was released on September 16, 2022 via Kozmik Artifactz and contains four long tracks. The opening track “Sleepwalking” immediately immerses us in the band’s retro sound, with excellent guitar work. The rhythm section moves slowly, with deep bass lines and solid drumming, and the vocal parts, with their warm and expressive touch, are remarkable. The guitar inserts are refined, while in the middle part the song changes tempo and intensity, taking on a more heavy character in both music and vocals. A long instrumental section with well-constructed riffs and solo inserts accompanies us throughout the second part of the song, concluding in a musical crescendo. The band’s space rock traits come to the fore in the intro to the following “Ready To Launch,” which is also the shortest in duration. A first part with a vocal enriched by effects and dilated Space-like sounds, the band cleverly increases the intensity with a change and inserts a refined guitar solo. A solid rhythm section and a Heavy Psych sound characterise the development of the song, accurately alternating vocal and instrumental parts that are very intense and well constructed. The guitar offers quality solo cues and engaging riffs that intertwine with the deep bass lines. “Boogie Man” is a track that combines the heavy rock sounds of the 70s with a modern, personal stoner touch. The vocal parts are enriched by effects, while the sound is fresh and modern, with valuable tempo changes and solo inserts. A gritty and very well constructed track that shows a more modern attitude of the band, managing to mix their personal traits with traditional sounds and a massive dose of Stoner Rock. The album ends with the title track “World’s Collide,” which continues the band’s more heavy sounds. A powerful rhythm section with a killer bassline, distorted guitar riffs and a very successful blend of 70s sounds and modern stoner. The alternation of instrumental and vocal parts also shows excellent songwriting and compositional technique. A long instrumental section concludes the album, alternating more energetic parts with softer openings and Space. Engaging and technical, this track leaves us wanting to listen to the album again and again. A band that manages to bring the atmospheres of the past into a modern and distinctly personal context. A mixture of Stoner, Psychedelia and Space Rock that, thanks to the band’s personal touch, offers a very intense and original listen. A good alternation of vocal and instrumental parts where the band succeeds in enhancing their technique both in composition and execution. A recommended listen for all lovers of good Rock music, with a Psychedelic and Space touch between the past, present and future of the genre.
