Porto Alegre, Brazil-based band The Acid Machine are an energetic blend of different genres and styles that includes retro sounds brought into a fresh, modern context. Their debut album “Mushrooms” was released on April 12, 2024 and contains 10 tracks between 3 and over 5 minutes long, entirely instrumental. Seventies-inspired Psychedelia blends with more modern stoner sounds, passing through more progressive moments, always with that Fuzz and Acid touch that distinguishes their style. Heavy guitar riffs alternating with fine solo inserts and always well composed and executed work. Granitic rhythm sections enriched by solid and elaborate drumming enriched by tempo changes, while the bass lines are deep and load-bearing. The intensity is always very high throughout the tracklist, ranging from more psychedelic tracks with a lysergic touch to others that are more heavy and with marked stoner overtones, fitting perfectly into the modern music scene. The band also manages to insert its own personal touch with forays and more elaborate passages that explore a Psych/Prog side reminiscent of the sounds of the late 60s and early 70s. The long instrumental textures are made up of well-constructed and engaging riffs, good drumming and bass lines, enhancing both the compositional and performing technique of this project. A very interesting debut album, full of energy, more lysergic passages and acid with the guitar as the protagonist in the riffs, melodies and which manages to create valuable sound interweavings. A band that is imposing itself on the Brazilian and international music scene with its energetic and elaborate Fuzz/Stoner/Psych sounds with forays into Prog. The tracklist is full of tracks that are sure to captivate audiences in live performances, both the shorter and the longer ones, with valuable and sophisticated instrumental textures.
