SomeWhereOut is a Spanish Progressive Metal/Djent project with Prog and Post-Rock influences. The new EP “More Tales From The Old Forest” was released on April 21, 2022 and contains 3 medium-long tracks featuring some guests. The listening opens with “Lady Bird” with an intense vocal and massive riffs that intertwine with the keyboards, with the drum programming well used and less cold than in other situations. I have never been a lover of virtual or programmed drums, but in this case it does not affect the sound performance in any way. An elaborate and solid track, with continuous tempo changes and intricate textures, combining Prog Metal and Djent traits with a good final result. Heavy riffs and a solid rhythmic session open “The Dragon” developed like the previous one on continuous tempo changes and elaborate textures. Good at malgamation between guitar and keyboards, as well as between the different genres that make up the musical style of this project, between Prog Metal and Post-Rock, with a greater presence of keyboards and entirely instrumental. With keyboard and guitar solo inserts with more virtuosic traits, the track is well developed and alternates more elaborate passages with other more Metal ones, always with a Progressive air. The EP closes with “The Loneliness” which begins with acoustic guitar and a warm and expressive vocal. The track shows the more Prog Rock side of the band, with a softer first part, and then in the second part offering an instrumental section with an intense keyboard solo. With the return of the vowel the track closes. A listening that consists of three well-made tracks, with the first two markedly Prog Metal, the last one instead of a more Rock inspiration, always of a Prog mold. Elaborate textures of guitar and keyboards, a solid sound and dynamic vocals, with the drum programming that as mentioned before I usually do not appreciate, which here does not reduce the sound quality. An interesting EP, recommended for lovers of sounds halfway between Prog Metal and Djent with forays into Prog/Post-Rock
