The American trio King Buffalo from Rochester, New York starting from Psychedelic sounds and loves to explore different musical horizons. On September 02, 2022 the third full-length entitled “Regenrator” is released, composed of 7 medium-long tracks, which continue in the exploration of ever new and original sounds. The album opens with the title track “Regenerator” and a long intro with plots of synths with dilated sounds to which the guitar and a solid rhythm session are added. Energetic and engaging, with a killer bassline, the vocal is dynamic and expressive and alternates well with the instrumental sections where the guitar is the protagonist of a prolonged solo. Energetic and with a good use of modulations, this track immediately immerses us in the musical world of the band with those Psychedelic sounds that blend with their personal and original traits. Guitars enriched by a repeated delay characterize the melodies of “Mercury,” from the elaborate rhythmic session made up of technical drumming and deep and leading bass lines. The vocal is expressive and interprets the lyrics well, while in the central part an instrumental section develops with full-bodied bass lines and good guitar work. The vocal returns for the last verse and the song closes. “Hours” is a track with tight drumming and hypnotic and leading bass lines, the distorted guitar riffs and the structure of the piece make it the darkest and most aggressive of the album. In the central part there is an instrumental section enriched by synth inserts and with a powerful drumming on which the guitar first gently inserts itself then with the distortions adds power to the sound. The shorter track on the “Interlude” album features sweeter sounds with guitar arpeggios and voices intertwining, creating a shorter, more delicate passage. The intensity increases in the central part, a track with a mystical flavor that softens the tones between the tracks of the album, inserting itself in the middle of the disc. With a solid structure with very interesting ideas and developments “Mammoth” was also proposed as a single to anticipate the album. The vocal is dynamic and expressive and the tempo changes enrich the piece, developing in the instrumental section a jam with deep and supporting bass lines and valuable distorted guitar works. A prolonged solo closes the piece, enhancing the technique of the artists involved in both the sung and instrumental parts. “Avalon” develops with a softer guitar and with a dilated sonority, the vocal is warm and expressive while the rhythm session is solid and linear with deep bass lines. The intensity increases with the passing of the minutes, with a good instrumental section in the second part with an interesting mix of guitar and synth that gives a spatial touch to the sound. The track ends with the alternation of energetic and distorted inserts and other softer ones. The last track of the album “Firmament” which opens with softer guitar arpeggios and an expressive and pathos-laden vocal, moving and developing slowly. The rhythmic session enters, elaborated and with supporting bass lines, while with the passage of the piece the intensity also increases thanks to the entry of the distortions. In the central part the guitar offers an alternation of successful riffs and solo inserts, evolving the song with long instrumental textures and reaching the peak of power in the second part. A track that summarizes all the characteristics of the sound of this album, ending with a musical crescendo. Another excellent proposal for this band that succeeds in each record release to evolve their sounds, exploring different genres and styles. Long instrumental plots that enhance the technique and intense sung parts, offering a Psychedelic Rock genre with markedly personal traits. A listening recommended for lovers of the new Psychedelic sounds, alternating softer passages and more Heavy ones, with quality tracks inside with excellent ideas, well composed and performed.
