Hamburg, Germany based Heavy Rock/Progressive and Psychedelic band Mety Heaval released their first record release entitled “Hyperdrive of Delusion.” Available from May 21, 2024, it contains one epic track of over 15 minutes in which the band ranges across all their stylistic influences. It starts off strong with granitic heavy rock characterised by massive guitar riffs and aggressive vocals. The rhythm section is solid with a deep, driving bassline and monolithic drumming enhanced by tempo changes. We move on to a section that incorporates elements of Prog and Heavy Rock with ‘90s reminiscences, accelerating the rhythm and alternating aggressive vocal parts with more melodic ones. The guitar offers interesting solo cues, leading us to the third section of the song, where the band offers a more modern sound enriched by effects. The sound is more progressive, with contaminations of that sound somewhere between Rock and Metal typical of today’s bands in this genre. The fourth part also evolves the sound of the previous one, with an instrumental section with the guitar as the protagonist and elaborate Prog-style textures, with the incisive and more aggressive vocals acting as a counterbalance to the instrumental parts. The organ enriches the background of the final part of the suite, bringing the sounn into more Progressive Rock territory, where in addition the bassline notes that give body to the track stand out, and so the band concludes. A good listen that explores different musical nuances that characterise the band’s style, skilful in creating its own fresh and personal sound. An epic track that shows us how this band can offer good listening in the future. While waiting for the release of more of their material, I recommend listening to this long epic, for 15 minutes of Heavy Rock, Prog and many quality ideas.
