Jester Majesty is a Progressive Metal project led by Italian artist Alessandro Gargivolo born in 2024. The debut EP ‘Plains Of Heaven’ was released on October 31, 2024 and contains 3 tracks, one interlude and two over 4 minutes long. The opnenr “Thanatos” is also the longest in duration, at 4:46 minutes, and immediately immerses us in the album’s sounds with a granitic rhythm section and solid guitar riffs. It is a track full of energy and with the guitar as the protagonist in this first phase, then enriched with tempo changes and a melodic vocal and solo keyboard inserts. The vocals give a dark touch to the heavy sound, already permeated by gloomy atmospheres. The accelerations in the second half show the classic Thrash and Heavy Metal vein, also offering a vocal in line with the bands of the late 80s. A good mixture of past and present thanks to the band’s personal touch. Guitar arpeggios and keyboards create dreamy atmospheres in the interlude entitled “Memoryless Property,” a short passage that in the finale reserves an unexpected metal crescendo for a track of this duration. The tracklist termian with “Plains Of Heaven,” another burst of energy with aggressive guitar riffs, a vocal very close to 80s American singers, all mixed with prog metal. The result: a fine blend of Thrash Metal and Progressive with accelerated drumming and plenty of tempo changes, a killer bassline, and guitar and keyboards that offer heavy riffs and beautifully crafted solo inserts. Between continuous tempo changes and interweaving vocals and tight instrumental sections with fine solo interventions, the EP ends. A band that confirms the good things heard in the first two singles, creating a good malgam between Progressive Metal and Thrash Metal, between classic and modern sounds, thanks to their own personal touch. An EP that shows the musical direction of the project and offers one track more Progressive and one more Thrash with a pleasant interlude that connects them. A good debut and a recommended listen for lovers of both the more elaborate sounds of classic Thrash Metal and Progressive Metal.
