After their powerful return with “Promin,” a track featuring Johannes Persson from Post-Metal icons Cult of Luna, Vøvk is back with another new single. “Iskra” (“Spark”) is the second song from their upcoming album, titled “LITERA.” Fans can expect their first full-length album in six years to drop in early autumn.
Silence breeds tension — especially when people go through difficult times but don’t dare to speak about it. When that tension reaches its peak and the air turns dry, all it takes is a single word — a spark — for the fire to ignite.
“This is the most personal track on the upcoming album,” says Oleksandr Kuts, Vøvk‘s frontman. “In times of danger, stress, and worry, it’s incredibly easy to withdraw. We can become quiet and isolated, bottling up all our negative emotions, hoping to protect the ones we love. But eventually, you’ll explode – and the longer you wait, the worse the consequences will be.”
Accompanying the song, the band has released a music video that powerfully conveys the track’s core message. Its visual minimalism and striking red backdrop capture the raw, authentic intensity of a live performance, where emotional tension takes center stage.

Curiously, the chorus for “Iskra” (“Spark”) was actually written about ten years ago. The song’s lyrics are rich with multi-layered symbolism: forests and thickets represent the space where unspoken emotions accumulate; rage and flint embody suppressed feelings; and smoke intensifies the atmosphere of things left unsaid. The imagery of children burying animals in coal serves as a manifesto for growing up, suggesting that to embrace new beginnings, we often have to let go of what we hold most dear.
You can now enjoy Vøvk‘s “Iskra” (“Spark”) available on all music platforms.
Vøvk is a Ukrainian band from Kyiv that blends Progressive Rock and Post-Hardcore, taking the best elements of both genres. Their songs are a fusion of ordered chaos, emotionality, and experimentation. The lyrics explore the intersection of the symbolic and the personal, creating phantasmagoric narratives.
Vøvk‘s history includes two European tours, numerous charity concerts, performances on Ukraine’s underground stages, and participation in festivals such as Faine Misto, Gogolfest, Winter Mass VI, Barrockko Fest, Rock-n-Buh, Respublica, Impulse Fest, Electric Meadow, and Kazka Family Fest.
Vøvk‘s discography includes the album “Lair,” a cover of DakhaBrakha‘s “Sho Z-Pod Duba,” the bilingual single “Tiger | Tyhr,” and the “Promin” collaboration with Johannes Persson. Their songs have been featured on the official playlist for the game “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.”
