“The Hummingbird Conspiracy” is an original, deeply human album that wrestles with the tension between confinement and freedom: the prisons we inherit, the ones we construct ourselves, and the strength of the soul to transcend them.
Inspired by a long-form narrative of inner conflict and transcendence, “The Hummingbird Conspiracy” is a sonic journey through the psyche — where rhythm, harmony, and texture become a mirror of courage and curiosity.
This record is not just a collection of songs — it’s a cohesive, emotional journey that explores:
What it means to be trapped and what it takes to be free.
The intersection of human fragility and strength.

Also, what makes this album special and different from all my previous projects?
Well, for starters, this is not a Jazz album, which is mostly what I’ve been used to do and what a few people know me for. This is a Rock album of sorts, a conceptual one at that, or at least I tried to make it one. It all started with a concept of a short story that came to my mind after a very intense Spiritual experience of sorts, after a few deep meditation sessions. This inspired me to do a rock album in which I play all instruments: Tenor-Baritone Guitar, Bass, Keyboards, Drums, and Voice. A completely new challenge for me.
Jose Roman Duque, better known as JORODU, is a graduate of Berklee College of Music. Jose has always set up to establish himself as the most innovative and versatile musician wherever he sets up residence. Now living in Miami, this Venezuelan musician has positioned himself as the go-to guy in a variety of styles, such as Jazz, R&B, Latin, Rock, World Music, and Pop.
Jose has recorded/performed with: Niko Tsonev (Steven Wilson/Lifesigns), Jonathan Noyce (Jethro Tull/Gary Moore), Colin Edwin (Bassist of Porcupine Tree), Jon Durant’s band, Burnt Belief, Claudio Roditti, and Sergio Brandao. Founder of the projects, The Ged trio, Jose Duque’s RELOAD, Jose Duque’s ZUMBATRES, and ROMAN(US), Emigdio & La SUPERPOWER, a super Funky Pop band by the original keyboardist of DESORDEN PUBLICO.
Jose divides his time between teaching drums at CENTER TONE MUSIC SCHOOL in Key Biscayne, FL, and his private studio teachings. Jose keeps performing live with the EMIGDIO+SUPERPOWER, JAZZILIAN PROJECT (with maestro Jose Gallegos and Dr. Ed Calle), The Randy Armstrong Group, and Yvette Norwood-Tiger. Jose also has written the score for two films independently released in Spain in 2012 and 2013. Has composed, produced, and released independently eleven Albums.
